'Heritage Counts 2011' is the tenth annual survey of the state of the East of England’s historic environment. This year it highlights the role of volunteers in the historic environment in the East of England and provides a summary of the ‘Heritage Counts’ indicators including an analysis of planning and staffing levels and an overview of the key policy issues affecting the region such as philanthropy.
Please take the time to look at our new research on the historic environment and Big Society which quantifies the role of the historic environment in civil society and provides guidance for heritage and other local groups on widening community links.
The ‘Heritage Counts’ indicators for the East of England can be found on the National Report page and in the relevant spreadsheets. This year we have made more local level data available.

- Caring and Sharing – data on the condition of assets and resources and the funding available to manage them in East of England (for example levels of public sector funding, Heritage at Risk, employment levels and planning consents affecting the historic environment).
